Recently passed my CP rating with Ric at Northern Skies. The school delivers the BHPA syllabus and Ric guides you through every step safely, patiently and at a pace to suit you. Ric and the Northern Skies club members will go above and beyond to assist, give advice and help you throughout your journey through training. I've completed my BHPA Club Pilot rating with CFI Ric at Northern Skies, and it was fantastic, from beginning to end. Ric's level of expertise is second to none, and his tuition (and patience!) was perfectly tailored to my progress as I went from total beginner to being able to confidently fly on my own with safety and competence. The school's facilities and equipment cater for students of all ages, shapes & sizes, and all equipment is in excellent and most importantly safe condition. The BHPA syllabus is delivered professionally and comprehensively - an important point that many so-called flying schools might not guarantee to offer. After being involved in the sport for about a year, and getting to know the wider paramotor community, I now realise I was fortunate to have chosen one of the very few top-tier schools in the UK - well worth a long drive in favour of more local schools. I look forward to moving on to Pilot rating in due course and would recommend Northern Skies without hesitation to friends and family.
Fantastic training provided according to the BHPA syllabus. Highly recommended. Ric is patient, highly knowledgeable and always safe. The equipment he trains people on is of perfect condition and expertly maintained. I passed my CP in a short amount of time (very lucky with annual leave and weather) the club is friendly and easy to find. I’m looking forward to undertaking my Pilot rating soon and will definitely be joining the club once my kit is sorted
I did a lot of research before committing to a BHPA school. After speaking to people who knew what they were talking about I chose Northern Skies. I’m so glad I did. The CFI (Chief Flying Instructor) Ric is so easy to get along with and very professional. Being a little older (me) I learn at my own pace and Ric was so brilliant at keeping me focused. I was lucky enough to be one of the first students through Northern Skies since gaining BHPA accreditation so everything was done correctly and in a safe manner as it should be. The sessions are thought about and Ric has an excellent way of explaining the processes step by step. It wasn’t long until our group of 5 trainees took to the skies for the first time and we were prepared. It’s a daunting step taking off for the first time and Ric kept everyone clam and focused over the radio with every flight. I’ve now built up approximately 75 hours and developing my skills with every flight. Ric is always on hand to give advice and support. I can’t recommend choosing this school enough. I found Ric and Northern Skies when searching for a school to do my paraglider>paramotor conversion with. One thing that immediately appealed about Northern Skies was the flexible nature of the training dates. I gave Ric a call and was able to start my training the next day; due to my availability was able to get several days of 1-to-1 tuition which made for a great training experience! Ric is a great instructor, knowledgeable, friendly, and approachable, and he also gave me good advice on equipment, let me demo wings, and got me a good discount on a MacFly paramotor. All in all I would really recommend training with Ric and Norther Skies, couldn’t have been happier with my experience!
Fantastic experience learning to paramotor at Northern Skies. Ric has been a superb instructor with the patience of a Saint. The whole set up is excellent and is positively geared to teaching you safely. I’ve subsequently joined the affiliated Club which I’m really enjoying. I thoroughly recommend Northern Skies.
